About the Author

Susan Buffum has been writing practically her entire life.

Susan was born in Northampton, MA. She lived the first fifteen years of her life in Easthampton, MA before her family moved to Westfield, MA in June of 1973. She is a graduate of Westfield High School, class of 1976. She attended Westfield State College (now Westfield State University) where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in English in 1980. She lived for six years in West Springfield, MA in a genuinely haunted house before moving back to Westfield. She has lived there since 1989 with her husband, John, and her daughter, Kelly.

Susan has worked as a carpet repairer, retail salesclerk in women's fashions, a security guard at the Springfield Quadrangle Museums and Civic Center, a campus police supervisor at Western New England University, an injection mold machine operator at LEGO Systems, an office products, cards and gifts salesperson, and been working as a medical secretary in a multi-practitioner office since 2007.

Susan has written primarily as a hobby and as a means to entertain family and friends.  She is known for her annual Halloween and Christmas stories. She has self-published one young adult novel, Medea, and one young reader, Halloween Story, under her pseudonym, Victoria Bell. She has written over a dozen novels and numerous short stories, novelettes, and novellas that she will be self-publishing as she has time to work on these projects.

Susan enjoys photography, especially cloud and nature photography.

She has been active in the antique and vintage button collecting hobby since 2003. She has been the editor of and a contributing writer for the Massachusetts State Button Society Bulletin since 2007. The primary focus of her button collection are charmstrings, button strings and memory strings- a fad popular with girls and young ladies from about 1860-thru the early 1900's.  She has 90 of these strings of buttons in her collection. She and her daughter Kelly maintain an online charmstring museum where images of the strings of buttons and descriptions are posted.

Susan also collects Steiff and Hermann mohair teddy bears and camels. She also enjoys antiquing. She is an avid reader. Writing, however, is her greatest passion.
